After a hard workout, you turn to a protein bar to restore your energy and fuel your body. But the ones for humans aren’t always made with the healthiest ingredients. That’s why we were intrigued when we were sent theWellness CORE Superfood Protein Bars. And because Kevin Roberts and his dogs are always working out, we though he was the perfect person to try these protein bars out. Here’s what Kevin had to say about them.

Dogs need meat. They crave it. Their bodies are designed to use animal proteins, found in meat. A healthy and active dog needs to have a good source of protein in its diet. The best source of protein for dogs is meat. While dogs are omnivores, their bodies are designed to eat lots of animal protein.

Some treats and dog food have grains included in the ingredients. Grains provide mostly carbohydrates and only a small amount of amino acid. When a dog’s body takes in the extra carbohydrates that the dog cannot use, the extra carbohydrates are stored as fat. Wellness CORE Superfood Protein Bars are grain free. They are packed with things your dog’s body can use!

I tested out the “Beef & Bison with Blueberries” and the “Chicken & Turkey with Sweet Potatoes” recipes while we were out on a scooter run.

The lucky dogs who got to take part in the test? Belle and Burger. I picked Belle, due to her drool factor. She will salivate and drool if it’s something really good! Burger, on the other hand, is a really picky eater and it’s got to be good to get his attention!

I’m very vigilant when it comes to feeding the dogs. They work hard, and the food I feed them fuels our adventures. So I’m picky when it comes to what I give them. That’s why I was happy to learn that Wellness CORE Superfood Protein Bars are made in the USA, nothing is sourced or manufactured in China. Very cool!

The other part I was very impressed with was that I could read every ingredient on the label! Chicken, Turkey, Peas, Flaxseed, Cane Molasses, Salt, Broccoli, Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Skim Milk, Rosemary! I know what those things are! Put it all together, and you’ve got a wonderfully healthy snack that gives them the energy they need to keep having fun.

Now for the real test… what will the dogs think?

Belle was licking her lips and drooling as soon as the bag was opened. Despite scootering for 3 miles before we stopped for a break, she was jumping all over me as to get more treats – Belle loves these!

Burger is harder to please. He will often take a treat in his mouth and then spit it out for the other dogs to eat. Once I had Belle secured, she was wanting more and more. I offered the treat to Burger, and they certainly held his attention. Not only that, he ate one, after the other after the other. Burger loved them too!

These treats appealed to me, because their ingredients are safe and healthy for our pets, but they also appealed to the dogs. It makes me happy knowing I can give them something that they enjoy, and is good for them as well.
